My trusty old 5D Mark III finally gave out on me during a shoot last weekend and honestly Im kinda panicking. Ive been shooting weddings for about seven years now so I know my way around a sensor but this feels like the worst possible timing for a hardware failure. I was thinking about jumping over to mirrorless, maybe the R6 Mark II or just sticking with Canon glass since I have a bunch of L-series lenses already, but then I hear rumors about new sensor tech dropping later this year and now Im stuck. My budget is around 2500 bucks but if I have to replace my adapter or get new glass that gets tight real fast. Should I just grab something used to tide me over or bite the bullet and go all in now? I have a big booking in three weeks and cant show up with a rental again. Is the market gonna settle or is this just what it is now? Kinda lost on whether to wait for the next price drop or just deal with it...

Just pick up a used Canon EOS R6 20.1MP Full-Frame Mirrorless body and a Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R. It keeps your L-series glass usable and stays well under your budget. You really dont need the latest sensor tech for wedding work. Reliability matters way more than specs right now.

Adding my two cents, stop waiting for rumors. You need a reliable shooter now. In my experience, these two are solid for wedding work:

Man, losing a camera right before a wedding is every pros nightmare! Honestly, don't sweat those sensor rumors. They always say something is coming, but for a wedding, you need a workhorse you can trust today. I switched from my old 5D to the Canon EOS R6 Mark II 24.2MP Mirrorless Camera last year and it has been absolutely amazing. You already own that L-series glass, so just grab the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R and you are golden. It works flawlessly with the older lenses, like native glass, I swear. I wouldnt risk a used body for a big gig, just go for the reliability of the new system. It handles low light so much better than the old 5D, you will love it!
