What are the actual best TV deals going on for Prime Day this year that are actually worth the money?

I've been digging through the early deals and some tech blogs, but I'm getting super conflicted info. I saw CNET recommending the Hisense U8 Series because it's down to like $700, but then a bunch of Redditors are saying the quality control on those is a total lottery and to just spend the extra cash on an LG C3 or C4 OLED.

I'm trying to upgrade my living room setup in my apartment in Chicago before college football season starts. My budget is strictly under $1,000, and I really want something at least 65 inches because our couch is pretty far back. It's mostly for watching sports and streaming movies at night, so decent brightness and good viewing angles are key.

The problem is, Amazon has so many random fire TVs on sale too, like the Omni series for dirt cheap, but I worry those will get super laggy after a year. Is it better to grab a mid-range Hisense/TCL deal right now, or should I wait to see if the premium Sony or LG OLEDs drop closer to my budget limit on the actual day?

Honestly, skip the cheap Fire TVs, they definitely get laggy after a year. I went through this last year and ended up going with the TCL 65QM751G 65-Inch QM7 QLED and I am so happy with it. The brightness is absolutely wild for daytime sports and the UI is still snappy. No complaints at all. My buddy took a gamble on the Hisense 65U8N 65-Inch U8 Series and while it works well now, he had to swap it once because of weird screen uniformity issues. If you want a guaranteed win under a grand, the TCL is the way to go. You wont find a 65-inch LG OLED65C4PUA 65-Inch C4 OLED under $1,000 anyway, even with prime day discounts, so I wouldn't bother waiting for that drop.
