Im getting so annoyed trying to find a decent mirrorless camera for my upcoming trip to Japan in October. My budget is like 1200 bucks max and I just keep hitting walls. I looked at a few refurbished deals on B&H but the shipping costs to my area are insane and then I read on some blog that FB marketplace is the way to go but that just feels way too risky for a first-timer like me. Does anyone actually know where to score a legit deal without getting scammed or spending my whole savings account before I even get on the plane?
Honestly, buying tech is such a headache lately. I had issues with shipping costs too, which is super annoying. If you want something solid for Japan, skip the sketchy sites and look at these options instead:
- Sony Alpha a6400 24.2MP APS-C Mirrorless
- Canon EOS R50 24.2MP APS-C Mirrorless Check Adorama or MPB for used gear. Unfortunately, finding stock under 1200 bucks is tough, but those bodies are honestly worth the money.
Adding my two cents, check out the Fujifilm X-T30 II 26.1MP APS-C Mirrorless. It is amazing for Japan! Buying open-box at Best Buy saved me so much money, totally worth it.
Totally agree with the previous reply. Buying cameras used is such a minefield honestly. I had issues with my first body because the sensor had dust deep inside that I didnt catch until I was editing photos. It was super annoying and definitely not as good as expected.
- Check local camera shops instead of online
- Look for authorized refurb programs
- Always test the shutter count personally Its rough out there. Just stay patient.
