I am finally doing it!! Im planning my big trip to Kyoto and Tokyo next month and I really need to upgrade my old gear before I go. I've been obsessing over the Fujifilm X-T5 because of that 40MP sensor and the smaller body size but man the price is just staying so high everywhere I look.
My logic was that maybe there would be some early summer sales or something but B&H and Adorama are still showing full price. I keep looking at the X-T4 as a backup since I can find those used for like $1100 but then I lose that resolution and the better autofocus which I really want for street photography. Or I could go crazy and look at the Sony A7IV but honestly I love the Fuji colors and the dials too much so I think Im stuck on the X-T5.
My budget is capped at $1700 for the body alone because I still need to buy a lens and some extra batteries for the flight. Has anyone seen any coupon codes or specific retailers doing a promo right now?? I checked a few local shops in Seattle but no luck so far. Im getting really excited but also a bit nervous about the cost... maybe there is an EDU discount I can use through a friend or something?
Fujifilm is pretty stingy with sales on the Fujifilm X-T5 40MP Mirrorless Camera because it sells like crazy. Here is what actually works:
- Use that EDU discount at B&H; it usually drops it by $100 or so.
- Check MPB for 'Like New' used units to stay under budget.
- Local shops sometimes have open-box returns if you get lucky. Grab a few Fujifilm NP-W235 Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery spares too, Kyoto will drain them fast.
