Where are the best places to actually find deals on Canon cameras? Im totally new to this photography thing and feel kinda lost. Ive been trying to figure out which model to get for my upcoming trip to Japan in October, but the prices are all over the place and I dont want to overspend. My budget is around 600 bucks which I know isnt a ton, but I dont need anything super fancy for just vacation shots. Is it better to look for used gear or wait for some big sale somewhere? Honestly any advice on where to look would be great because I have no clue what Im doing...
Honestly for that budget, look at the used market. You get way more for your money than buying new. Check out these spots for deals:
- MPB or KEH for reliable used gear with warranties
- Canon refurbished site for deep discounts I picked up a Canon EOS Rebel T7 24.1MP DSLR used and it works well for travel. Don't stress about fancy specs yet, just grab a decent body and start shooting.
Saw your post earlier and wanted to chime in. Before you pull the trigger on anything, what are you planning to shoot most in Japan? Are we talking mostly street scenes at night or just daylight landscapes? Knowing that changes the gear recommendation entirely. In my experience, you should definitely stick to trusted retailers to avoid getting scammed. I have bought several bodies over the years and would lean toward these options if you want reliability:
- Canon EOS M50 Mark II 24.1MP Mirrorless if you can find one in your price range, it is super portable for travel.
- Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II 20.1MP Compact which is basically pocket-sized and perfect for not carrying a heavy bag. Buying used is smart, just make sure the shutter count isnt astronomically high. Let me know what kind of photography you prefer so I can give you a better recommendation.
Quick tip! Check out the Canon EOS R100 24.1MP Mirrorless Camera deals at big retailers. It is fantastic for travel and fits right in your budget. You will love it!
Good to know!
