Ive been shooting with my trusty old DSLR for years, but the shutter count is getting ridiculously high and the sensor is starting to show its age. Im planning a trip to the Pacific Northwest in about three months and I really want to upgrade to a mirrorless system before I go because I just cant handle lugging around that heavy gear anymore. My budget is around 1200 bucks for the body and maybe a decent kit lens.

I usually buy used gear from local shops but inventory has been so dry lately. Ive been checking the usual big sites like MPB and KEH, and while they seem solid, the prices for a decent Sony a6400 or a Fuji XT-3 seem to fluctuate a ton depending on the condition rating. Is it actually worth gambling on eBay or Amazon Renewed to save a hundred bucks, or should I just stick to the dedicated camera retailers even if the tax adds up? I had a bad experience with a third-party seller a while back so Im kinda nervous about getting stuck with a lemon that has hidden mechanical issues. Which sites do you guys actually trust for refurbished stuff that wont fall apart after a month of heavy use?

Honestly, skip the eBay gamble. I got burned on a body with shutter issues last year and it was a headache. For the peace of mind, just stick with the pros who actually test their gear.

Check out Canon Refurbished directly for their stellar warranty! Getting a Canon EOS R 30.3MP Full-Frame is amazing value, plus you know it wont die on your big trip.

Honestly, staying away from random eBay sellers is the move. I tried snagging a deal on a Fujifilm X-T3 26.1MP APS-C Mirrorless Camera last year to save some cash, but the dial felt mushy and the sensor had hot pixels straight out of the box. Unfortunately, getting a refund was a total nightmare, so I learned that lesson the hard way. If you want to save money without the stress, look at the official refurbished sections on the manufacturer sites. Canon and Nikon usually have these hidden deals that come with a factory warranty, which is way safer than those third-party refurbishers. Sometimes you can snag a Sony Alpha a6400 24.2MP Mirrorless Camera bundle for way cheaper than retail during their seasonal sales. Just wait for a holiday drop and you'll be set for your trip.
