I'm relatively new to photography and recently picked up the Fujifilm X-T30 II. I want to explore various styles, including landscape, portrait, and street photography. I'm looking for recommendations on the best lenses to pair with this camera. Ideally, I’d like a mix of prime and zoom lenses that can deliver sharp images and good low-light performance. What are your favorite lenses for the X-T30 II, and what do you think makes them great for travel and everyday shooting? I appreciate any suggestions or insights you can share. Thanks!

@Reply #2 - good point! Honestly, that size-to-performance ratio is what makes the X-T30 II such a blast. Looking at the thread, everyone has basically covered the main bases between the classic primes and the versatile zooms. From a technical perspective, the sensor readout on this body is super snappy, so you really want glass with fast motors to get the most out of the autofocus. I am honestly very satisfied with where the X-mount ecosystem is at right now:

  • Stick with any of the Fujifilm XF primes for the best balance and that tactile aperture ring.
  • Go with Sigma for their prime series, you basically cant go wrong with their sharpness and light transmission.
  • Grab a zoom from Tamron if you want that extra reach for travel without carrying a heavy bag. I have zero complaints with the third-party support we are seeing lately... its been a game changer for the value side of things. Just get any prime from the newer Sigma lineup and itll work well for what you need. Glad you joined the Fuji family, its a great place to be.

^ This. Also, I've been shooting with Fuji for about 6 years now and honestly, the X-T30 II is such a sweet spot for travel because of its size. I totally agree with the 18-55mm recommendations for a starter zoom, but lately I have been so happy with some of the newer third-party options that actually fit the small body better. I swapped some of my older gear for these and have zero complaints:

  • Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 DC DN Contemporary basically replaced my kit lens. Its incredibly light and having that constant f2.8 for low light is a game changer when you're inside museums or cafes. Think it runs around $500.
  • Viltrox 13mm f1.4 AF is my go-to for landscapes now. It's wider than the 16mm mentioned earlier and way cheaper than the Fuji equivalent, but the build quality is solid.
  • Viltrox 75mm f1.2 AF if you ever want to get serious about portraits. The bokeh is just butter, no joke. Seriously, dont feel like you have to stick only to Fuji branded glass to get professional results!

Like someone mentioned, the X-mount ecosystem is in a really good spot right now for variety. I think people often overlook the total cost of ownership when they first start out. Honestly, the X-T30 II is a great body but you dont necessarily need the most expensive glass to get professional results. Iirc, some of the newer third-party options have nearly identical autofocus performance to native lenses now, tho I havent checked the latest firmware comparison charts to be 100% sure. If you are being cost-conscious, it might be worth looking at the used market for older versions of lenses. I think I heard that the older motors can be slightly slower on the X-T30 II compared to the newer stuff, but for landscape work, it really wont make a difference in your final image quality. Its basically a trade-off between having the newest tech and saving enough money to actually go on a trip to use the camera...
