I just bought a used Lumix S5II because I wanted to get into real photography for my upcoming trip to Japan. I have no idea what Im doing but the shop guy told me about L-mount. Are Sigma lenses actually just as good as the Leica ones or am I gonna regret saving the cash?

Over the years, I've tried many different setups, and for a trip to Japan, you really want lenses that balance weight and optical performance. Leica is fine for the badge, but Sigma DG DN lenses are engineered for mirrorless from the ground up and frankly, they resolve better on the S5II sensor. I really suggest looking at the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II Art or even the Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN Art. Theyre tack sharp and leave you way more cash for travel. Don't sweat the branding, just focus on the glass performance.
Regarding what was said about the Leica glass being incredible, honestly, you really dont need to drop that much money to get pro results on your trip. The Sigma DG DN series is just fantastic and honestly, for a trip to Japan, you want lighter gear anyway!
