okay so I just got the lumix s5ii and honestly I think I might be in over my head because this is my first real camera and everything is so confusing. I have this huge trip to iceland coming up in exactly twelve days so I am in a bit of a rush to get everything ready. my logic was that I need a wide lens to get those big landscape shots and the northern lights but I have no clue what to actually buy. my budget is super tight now because the camera was so expensive so I can only really spend like $400 or maybe $500 tops if it is really worth it. I saw some lenses called sigma and some called lumix but then I saw some that say leica and they cost like three thousand dollars which is crazy. sorry if this is a dumb question but do all l-mount lenses work the same? I saw a 20mm one but is that wide enough or do I need something with a smaller number like 14mm? I really need it to have autofocus because I am way too new to try and twist the ring myself to get things sharp. I am just staring at amazon and bh feeling totally lost...
Unfortunately, finding fast autofocus glass for under 500 dollars is a struggle on L-mount. Yes, all L-mount lenses work together, but I had issues with cheaper zooms being way too slow for night shots.
- Panasonic Lumix S 20-60mm f/3.5-5.6 is budget-friendly but not as good as expected for the Aurora.
- Sigma 20mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary is what you really need if you can stretch the budget slightly. 20mm is plenty wide tho.
