What is a good cheap wide-angle lens for the Leica SL2 because I am seriously about to lose it with these prices? I got this camera as a gift but every lens I look up online costs way more than my rent and I really need something wide to take photos of my small apartment in NYC before I move out next month.
I have like $400-500 max and I dont even know if thats enough for this brand. I'm looking for:
- something that fits without a weird adapter
- easy to use
- actually affordable
Do I have to buy the Leica brand ones? I keep seeing things about L mounts and it is making my head spin honestly. Is there just something I can buy that works right away? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question...
I totally get the sticker shock. When I first moved into the L-mount system, I was terrified I would have to spend five figures just to get a basic kit. I actually spent weeks researching because I didnt want to mess up the electronics on my expensive body with some random cheap glass or a dodgy adapter. You definitely dont need to buy Leica brand stuff. Since the SL2 uses the L-mount, you can use Panasonic or Sigma lenses natively without any extra parts. I would look at the Panasonic Lumix S 20-60mm f/3.5-5.6 L-mount. It is a decent option and is surprisingly sharp. It is not the fastest lens for low light, but I have used it for real estate work before and 20mm is wide enough for a cramped apartment. You can usually find it for around $400 which fits your budget perfectly. It has autofocus and everything just works right away... no head spinning required.
Unfortunately, I've had bad luck with cheaper glass, tbh.
- Sigma 24mm f/3.5 DG DN Contemporary L-mount: safe but slow.
- TTArtisan 21mm f/1.5 L-mount: affordable, but manual focus is a headache.
