leaving for a trip to iceland next thurs and i still havent picked a main zoom for my s5ii. super stressed cause shipping is gonna be tight now. im stuck between the lumix 24-105mm f4 and that sigma 24-70mm f2.8 art. i need one lens to do everything since i dont want to carry a bag full of glass while hiking.
- budget is strictly under 1100
- mostly landscape but some street stuff at night
- needs to be weather sealed for the rain
im leaning toward the sigma for the f2.8 but that extra 105mm reach on the panny is tempting for compression. which one would u grab if u could only take one? shipping is gonna be the killer here so i gotta buy tonight...
In my experience shooting in rough conditions, that extra reach is a lifesaver. Been through a few of these setups and for Iceland, the range of the Panasonic Lumix S 24-105mm f/4 Macro O.I.S. beats having f2.8 every time.
- dual IS helps in high winds
- native sealing gives peace of mind
- macro for ice textures Grab the Panny. The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art is sharp, but hiking with it for miles is a chore tbh.
