Whats the best all-around zoom for the S5II that actually works well for events? I have my first wedding gig coming up in Seattle next month and I'm honestly panicking about which lens to buy. I've been looking at the Lumix 24-105mm because of the extra reach and the dual IS but then I read the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 is way sharper for portraits... but it's so heavy and I heard the AF can be twitchy compared to native glass? My budget is capped at $1100 and I cant decide if I need the f2.8 for the low light or if the f4 is enough with the S5II sensor. Just dont want to mess this up...
Honestly, I have been using the L-mount system for a while now and I am really satisfied with the performance of native glass. You dont need to overthink the f-stop too much because the sensor inside that camera is a beast at high ISO. I have shot plenty of events in dimly lit venues and the noise floor is so low that I am perfectly happy with the results even when I am not at f2.8. The communication between the body and a native lens is just way more reliable for a high-pressure situation like a wedding because the data transfer is optimized for the phase detect autofocus.

You basically cant go wrong with their first-party options because they are designed specifically to work with the internal processing of your camera. I have had zero complaints about sharpness or tracking speed since I made the switch. Third party options are okay, but for a wedding where you cant miss the shot, the native integration is worth it. Its just a smoother experience and you wont have to worry about twitchy focus or weight issues. Basically, the way the lens firmware talks to the body is just way more refined and data-rich.
