Ive spent years on MFT but this jump to the S5II has me totally stumped on L-mount glass. Need a solid all-around zoom for a commercial shoot in the PNW next week. Budget is $1300.
Should I stick with the 24-105 f4 or is that Sigma 28-70 better for the weight...
Honestly, for a commercial gig in the PNW, you really want the Panasonic Lumix S 24-105mm f/4 Macro O.I.S.. Over the years, I've learned that weather sealing is non-negotiable when you're shooting up there because the drizzle is basically constant. The Sigma is light, sure, but it lacks the full ruggedness of the Lumix glass. I've tried many setups and the Dual I.S. on the S5II combined with that lens is just rock solid for handheld video. It gives you that extra reach to 105mm which is huge for commercial b-roll. The constant f/4 is usually fine since the S5II sensor handles ISO so well. In my experience, sticking with native glass for your first big project on a new system is the safest bet to avoid any weird AF issues... if you need more help with the settings for that PNW light, let me know.
