So I just got a Lumix S5II and I'm heading to Tokyo next month for a two-week street photography trip, I am so hyped! I've been researching prime lenses and I'm stuck. I read that the Sigma 35mm f2 DG DN is super compact and great for the price, but then some forums say the rendering is kinda clinical and I should just save for the Leica 35mm f2 APO-Summicron-SL. But that Leica is way out of my $1500 budget right now. My logic was maybe the Panasonic 35mm f1.8 is a good middle ground? Or is there a hidden gem L-mount prime I'm missing for quick street shooting?

- Sigma 24mm f2 DG DN Contemporary for tight alleys. Check the used market tho. Buying pre-owned can save you a few hundred bucks... dont pay full price if you dont have to.
If you want to save some cash, check out the Sigma 45mm f2.8 DG DN Contemporary. I have been incredibly happy with this lens on my S5II. It is lightweight, fits well within your budget at around $550, and the rendering is quite organic. The autofocus speed is excellent for street photography. Definitely a hidden gem.
Tokyo is going to be absolutely amazing! You are going to have the best time ever.
