Deciding between the Sigma 85mm DG DN Art and that massive Lumix S Pro 50mm f1.4 for some studio headshots next week. Budget is strictly $2k max.
- clinical sharpness
- fast focus
- native L mount
Leaning towards the Sigma but people say the Lumix is special... which one is actually sharper?
Ive been really happy with my Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art. It works well and is super reliable for getting that clinical sharpness you're after.
- Sigma: Incredibly sharp and way easier to handle.
- Panasonic Lumix S Pro 50mm f/1.4: Beautiful rendering but huge and heavy. The Sigma is just a safer, more consistent choice for studio work... no complaints here.
Like someone mentioned, those are the two big hitters, but quick question... are you shooting really tight headshots or more half-body stuff? If you want clinical sharpness, I've been super happy with these alternatives:
- Sigma 105mm f/2.8 DG DN Macro Art L-Mount - seriously shows every tiny detail.
- Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art L-Mount - total beast but incredibly sharp. Honestly no complaints with the macro for studio work. Its kinda amazing for the price!
Lol I was literally about to post the same thing. Glad someone else brought it up.
Wait really?? Thats actually super helpful. I always thought it was the other way around.
