im honestly so done with my 24-90 zoom on this sl2 it is way too heavy for a full day of shooting and my wrist is literally killing me. i have a huge outdoor wedding in the cotswolds in two weeks and i cannot lug that beast around again plus the portraits look way too clinical.

i need that creamy leica look but i dont know if i should go for the 50mm or the 75mm apo or maybe an m-mount lens with an adapter? i have about 4 grand to spend but i need to order by tomorrow to get it shipped in time. what prime is actually the king for portraits on this body without weighing ten pounds?

i have spent way too much time lugging that 24-90 around so i totally get why your wrist is done. for an outdoor wedding where you need to move fast but want better rendering, these are the two i usually swap between.

  • Leica APO-Summicron-SL 75mm f/2 ASPH is the standard choice here. it is significantly lighter than the zoom and handles skin tones much better. it is sharp but the falloff is very smooth, so it loses that clinical edge you are seeing now.
  • Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH paired with the Leica M-Adapter L is a solid alternative if weight is the priority. it gives you that classic look, tho manual focusing on a fast-moving wedding day can be kinda tricky. tbh i would just go with the 75mm. it fits your budget and the autofocus is reliable enough that you wont be stressing during the ceremony.
