Honestly, im about two seconds away from throwing my current setup out the window. Ive been shooting portraits for a local clothing boutique here in Chicago, and while the SL is a beast, my current zoom lens just isnt giving me that dreamy, buttery background separation I need for their lookbook. Its so sharp it hurts, but it lacks soul, you know?
I was looking at the Leica APO-Summicron-SL 75mm f/2 but the price tag is honestly making me sweat, especially since I need to pick something up before the shoot next Friday. My logic was that a native prime would finally nail the autofocus consistency Im missing, but then I started looking at adapted M-mount glass, which sounds like a nightmare for fast-paced studio work. Im just stuck in a loop here. Should I just bite the bullet and go for the SL prime, or is there something else that actually renders beautifully without costing as much as my first car? Kinda just want that classic look without the focus miss-rate that's been driving me absolutely crazy all month. Has anyone here actually used the 75 or 90 primes for pro work, or am I just buying into the hype?

It is definitely not cheap. If you need that dreamy look fast, look for a used Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art. It handles way better than adapted M-glass and the bokeh is actually buttery. Seriously, dont waste time with M-mounts for studio work.
