Ive been shooting L-mount for a couple years now, mostly with Lumix glass, but Im looking to add a fast prime to my kit before a trip to Tokyo next month. Budget is around 800 bucks. Is the Sigma Art series really that much sharper than the Lumix S primes?
- Need sharp wide-open performance
- Autofocus speed is priority
- Weather sealing matters for street photography
Anyone have experience swapping between the two brands?

Honestly, if youre headed to Tokyo, you gotta grab the Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG DN Art lens! I took that exact lens to Japan last year and it was a total game changer for my street shots. The sharpness wide open is just insane compared to some of the basic Lumix stuff.
- It handles low light perfectly for those neon-lit alleyways
- The build feels super solid and handles the rain well
- Autofocus is snappy enough to catch busy crowds Lumix makes great glass, but for that crisp Art series look, Sigma is just on another level. You wont regret picking it up before your trip, it basically lives on my camera now. Just make sure to pack a good bag, because it definitely adds a little weight to your daily carry!
