so im torn between the 85mm 1.4 and that massive 105mm art for my s5ii. my logic was the 105 has better bokeh but man its heavy for a seattle wedding shoot next month. i got about $1200 to spend and just cant decide which is better for tight headshots...

Honestly, its a tough choice because both lenses have some annoying downsides that bummed me out. I tried using the Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art L-Mount for a long session and my wrist was basically dead after two hours. It is technically superior for those tight headshots because the compression is unreal, but dragging that heavy thing around Seattle in the rain sounds like a total nightmare tbh.
- Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art L-Mount: Incredible bokeh and zero onion rings, but unfortunately it is an old DSLR design adapted for L-mount and feels super unbalanced on the S5II.
- Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art L-Mount: Way lighter and faster AF, but the pincushion distortion is pretty gross if you dont use the software correction. If you are doing a whole wedding, the 85mm is the smarter pick even if the 105mm has that dreamier look. Carrying that 105mm all day is just not as good as it sounds on paper... my back still hurts thinking about it.
