Everyone hypes them up, but my experience was kinda disappointing at first. I bought an expensive 50mm thinking it would magically fix all my photos. Unfortunately, trying to shoot fast-moving dogs outside with it was a nightmare. The autofocus hunted constantly and I missed so many great shots. Had issues with the focal length being way too tight for running pets in the yard too. Skip the hype and save your cash. Grab a cheap used Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G instead. It wont break the bank, and youll get way better results for starting out.
