sorry if this is a dumb question but im completely lost and I need a zoom lens for my nikon d3500 asap because my sisters wedding is in two weeks and the kit lens just isnt cutting it for shots across the room... i went online and theres like a million options with numbers like 70-300mm and 18-55mm and my brain hurts trying to figure out what fits my budget of around 300 bucks and actually works without me having to be a professional photographer... like do i need vibration reduction or whatever... what is even the difference between sigma and nikon brand stuff... please help me pick something before the big day...

man two weeks is cutting it super close for a wedding shoot ngl... honestly id skip the pricey nikon glass and grab the Tamron 70-300mm f 4-5.6 Di LD Macro instead.

  • it fits right into that 300 dollar budget easily
  • has enough reach for across the room shots i tried a cheap off-brand telephoto once for a family event and unfortunately had issues with soft focus past 200mm, but this tamron holds up surprisingly well for the price. just keep your shutter speed high since it lacks stabilization. good luck!
