Just pre-ordered the new ZV-E10 II, which lenses do you recommended for this vlogging camera ? Any good suggestions ?
> Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G is a good vlogging lens. To add to the point above: I've been shooting with Sony for ages and honestly, I spent way too much money trying to make full-frame glass work on my APS-C bodies. Unfortunately, while that 20mm is a legendary lens, it ends up being a 30mm equivalent on the ZV-E10 II. In my experience, thats just way too tight for arm-length vlogging unless you have really long arms or a massive gimbal. It wasnt as good as expected for this specific body. I had issues with the weight distribution too... it felt super front-heavy. Quick tip: Stick to native APS-C glass to keep the setup light. The Sony E 11mm F1.8 is way better for talking heads. If you want something more versatile, look at the Sony E PZ 10-20mm F4 G. It's not as fast as the primes but the power zoom is a lifesaver for video. Let me know if you need more technical specs on those or help with the settings!
Building on the earlier suggestion, I am actually in the exact same boat. Even after years of obsessing over MTF charts and tech specs, I still havent been able to decide what to get for my ZV-E10 II pre-order. Its a total nightmare trying to find glass that accounts for the active stabilization crop without being way too heavy or overpriced. Honestly been stuck on this for days and I am still no closer to an answer tho...
Huh interesting. I had no idea. The more you know I guess 🤷
@Reply #4 - good point! Honestly I spent years lugging around heavy glass from a different brand before I finally wised up and switched. I used to think I needed the most expensive gear to get a good image but man, my current setup totally changed my mind! Switching over was the best thing I ever did for my workflow because I actually want to carry the camera now instead of leaving it at home.
- Found out that having a zoom is way more versatile for travel vlogs than just a single prime.
- Learned that third-party glass is basically just as good as native these days for half the price.
- Realized that weight matters way more than I ever expected when I am holding the camera at arms length for ten minutes straight! If you want to try something other than the usual Sony stuff, the Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary is absolutely incredible and so tiny. Another amazing pick would be the Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 Di III-A RXD if you need a bit more zoom range. Seriously, you cant go wrong with either of these!
