im really sorry if this is a dumb question but im panicking a little because i just bought a sony a7 thingy for my trip to italy on friday and i realized i have no idea what lens to get. the guy at the store was talking about focal lengths and f stops and i just got so confused and left.
i just want one lens that stays on the camera the whole time and can do everything from buildings to people. i have about 700 bucks left in my budget and i really need to buy it today so it gets here in time. what is the best all-around lens for sony mirrorless cameras today that wont make me swap parts out constantly?
Omg you are going to have the absolute best time in Italy!! Seriously, dont panic. The a7 is an amazing camera. Since you want one lens that does it all, you basically need a high-quality standard zoom. Just whatever you do, please please watch out for crop sensor lenses! Since your camera is full-frame, if you buy a lens meant for the smaller cameras, youll lose half your resolution and get a weird black ring around your photos. Its a super common mistake to make when you see a cheaper price tag! Make sure it is labeled for full-frame bodies. You want something that goes from wide angle for those huge cathedrals to a tighter zoom for portraits. Having that flexibility is a total lifesaver in Rome. Honestly, a good zoom is worth every penny of that budget because swapping lenses in a crowded plaza is a total nightmare anyway!
