I'm in the market for a used Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM lens. Does anyone know of reputable places to find one? I've checked the usual online marketplaces but haven't had much luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Wait, are you set on the RF version mostly for the weight savings or do you just need that specific focal length? Asking because the price gap between used RF and EF glass is still kinda huge right now. Personally, I wouldnt trust random Amazon sellers for something this expensive. Id look at MPB or KEH instead since they actually inspect the gear and give you a short warranty. I just checked and they have the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM popping in and out of stock fairly often. Usually goes for around $2,300 depending on the grade. If you're okay with a bit more bulk, grabbing a used Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM with the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R is a solid move. Its basically the same image quality for way less money, tho the RF is obviously much shorter in the bag. Whats your actual budget limit for this?
Same setup here, love it
Just found this thread and wanted to chime in because I went through this exact hunt a few months back. I'm super satisfied with how I finally snagged my Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM. Building on the earlier suggestion about dedicated photo shops, I actually had the best luck going straight to the source. Here is what worked for me:
- Canon USA Refurbished: This is my top pick. I was nervous about used gear, but they give you a full one-year warranty. The lens I got was basically indistinguishable from a brand new one. They do these restocks every few weeks and if you catch a sale, the price is unbeatable. Compared to some random seller on a marketplace, you just get that peace of mind knowing a Canon tech actually looked at the glass.
- Adorama or B&H Used: I've bought plenty of gear from them before. Unlike eBay where its a total gamble, these guys have a very specific grading system. If they mark it as Excellent or 9+, it usually looks untouched to my eyes. I was comparing the weight and size to my old EF version and the RF is just so much more compact... it fits in my bag vertically now which is a total game changer for me. No regrets at all going the refurb route to save a few hundred bucks... definitely worth the wait to find a good one in stock.
