I recently switched to the Canon R5 mirrorless system for my real estate photography business. What RF lenses do you recommend for interiors and exteriors? I'm looking for sharp, wide-angle options with minimal distortion. Thanks for any suggestions!
In my opinion, the best Canon RF lens for real estate photography is Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM.
For real estate photography, you want lenses that can capture wide angles and details effectively.
Zoom Lens:
Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM ($2,099)
- Although it's a zoom lens, its performance and versatility make it an essential choice for real estate photography, allowing you to capture wide shots and various perspectives in different spaces.
Prime Lens:
Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM ($299)
- This is a compact and lightweight prime lens that’s ideal for tight spaces, allowing you to capture wide-angle shots with a good depth of field, making it easier to showcase room layouts and features.
I use RF 10-20mm f/4 L IS STM lens, though it is a bit expensive, it really works well at most time for RE work.
If you are looking for some lenses for real estate photography, such as Canon EOS R5, you could try Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM lens. It stands out as the ideal choice, combining wide-angle capabilities, low-light performance, and professional image quality, making it an essential tool for capturing stunning property images. However, the price is over $2,000!

Late to the party but I wanted to share my experience because I learned the hard way. When I first switched to my current setup, I was so focused on getting the widest view possible that I totally ignored how the light hits the glass. I ended up with these weird flares in a high-end kitchen shoot that basically ruined the shots. If you're jumping in, I would suggest being super careful about a few things:
- make sure to check for chromatic aberration near high-contrast windows
- always use a lens hood if you can, even indoors
- triple check your vertical lines in the viewfinder before you click I eventually found a lens that worked for me, but the learning curve with wide glass on a high-res sensor like that is steeper than people say. Just dont rush into the most expensive thing without testing how it handles distortion in real-world rooms first... I'm still a bit nervous every time I swap gear tbh.
