I just got this big camera, the Canon 5D Mark IV, from my uncle who stopped using it. I am planning a trip to Zion National Park next month and I really want to take those huge mountain shots like I see on Instagram. Everyone says I need a wide angle lens but I have no idea what that means or what numbers I should be looking at.
The camera didn't come with a lens so I am totally lost. My budget is around $600 max and all the options online are just making my head spin... does it have to be a Canon brand? Is there a good one for someone who doesnt know what they are doing? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I just dont want to waste money on the wrong thing...
Smaller numbers like 16mm mean a wider view for those massive Zion cliffs. You dont need to stick only to Canon brand either.
- Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM: This is a classic pro lens. Its light, sharp enough for landscapes, and way under your $600 budget if you buy used.
- Tokina AT-X 16-28mm f/2.8 Pro FX for Canon EF: A bit heavier but lets in more light. Great for star photos too. Id grab the Canon 17-40mm and use the leftover cash for a tripod.
