I'm looking to purchase the new Canon EOS R50. As my first mirrorless camera, I would really appreciate some advice on good lenses to pair with it.

My budget for lenses is around $400-800 total to start out. I intend to shoot a variety of subjects - everything from landscapes and architecture to portraits and lowlight events. So I need lenses that are pretty versatile to use in different scenarios.

Any recommendations ?

Totally agree with what everyone is saying about the R50 being a solid choice for a first mirrorless setup. Honestly, it reminds me so much of when my brother-in-law decided to get into photography right before his wedding. He bought a similar setup and was so worried about getting the perfect shots of the ceremony. He actually spent like three weeks watching YouTube tutorials on manual settings and lighting while he was supposed to be helping with the seating charts. Fast forward to the big day, and he gets so nervous that he accidentally leaves the lens cap on for the entire first half of the reception. He was walking around looking through the viewfinder wondering why everything was pitch black, thinking the sensor had died or something. We all had a good laugh once we figured it out, but man, he was stressed. Just goes to show that even with the best gear, sometimes the simplest things can trip you up... anyway, definitely a fun camera to learn on.

Wish Canon to release more RF-S lenses, such as RF-S 22mm f/2 STM lens from EF-M.

For a single, outstanding "all-around" lens for your Canon EOS R50, the best recommendation is the Canon RF 50mm F1.8 STM.
