I just got a Canon EOS R5 and honestly I think I might be in over my head already lol. I know it is a really fancy camera but I basically know nothing about photography yet... sorry if this is a totally dumb question but I am so confused about which glass I need to actually use it. Right now it is just the body sitting in a box and I realized I cant even take a photo without a lens? Yikes. I have been googling but there are so many numbers and letters like RF and EF and L-series and I just want one lens that I can keep on the camera all the time for everything. I dont want to be carrying around a huge bag of different lenses and swapping them out because I will probably drop something or get dust inside the camera.
I am going on a trip to Iceland next month so I really need to get this sorted soon. I want to take pictures of the scenery but also some photos of my husband and maybe some close up shots of flowers or food? Just like a do it all kind of thing. I heard the R5 is great for detail so I want something that makes the photos look really crisp but I have no idea where to start.
Here is what I am looking for:
- something that works for big landscapes but also taking pictures of people
- I dont want it to be too heavy because we are going to be hiking a lot in the cold
- my budget is around $1000 to $1500 if that is realistic? I spent so much on the camera body that I am a bit tight now
- simple to use for a beginner who doesnt understand all the manual settings yet
I saw something called a 24-105mm online? Is that good? Or should I get a prime lens? I heard those are better but then I cant zoom in right? I really just want the best all-around thing so I dont have to worry about it during my trip. Is there a specific one that everyone uses for this camera? I saw some lenses that cost like 3000 dollars and there is no way I can afford that right now... help...
Get the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM! It is amazing:
- Constant f/4 aperture
- Nano USM I used it in Zion and the sharpness is totally fantastic for everything!
