So I finally saved up and got the R5 Mark II because I wanted the best photos for my trip to Tokyo next month but honestly I am so lost looking at all these lens options. My logic was that I just want one lens that stays on the camera the whole time so I dont have to carry a big bag around since I'll be walking a lot.

My friend told me to get a zoom thing but there are so many numbers like 24-105 or 24-70 and I have no clue what the f/4 or f/2.8 part even means for my pictures. I have about 2000 dollars left to spend but I really dont want to buy the wrong thing. Is there just one lens that is good for everything? I just want it to be simple...

I remember lugging three heavy lenses through Shinjuku on my first trip and my neck was killing me by noon. In my experience, the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is the perfect one-lens solution. Its way cheaper than those f/2.8 zooms, saving you nearly a grand for better food. That extra zoom range is a lifesaver when you're trying to capture distant street signs or temples.
