so I finally pulled the trigger on a Canon R5 Mark II because everyone said it was amazing but now Im staring at the body and I have literally no idea what lens to buy. sorry if this is a dumb question but I feel like I just wasted a ton of money. my budget is maybe another 2k and I need something for travel and just taking pictures of my dog in the backyard. I was thinking maybe a zoom lens because switching them out sounds like a nightmare honestly. do I need one of those big heavy ones or is there a smaller one that doesnt suck? Im so lost...

Dont sweat it, weve all been there. You definitely dont need those massive f/2.8 glass bricks. For a mix of travel and backyard dog shots, keep it simple.
- Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is basically the gold standard for a reason. Its sharp, weather-sealed for trips, and the focal range covers everything. Honestly, its the only lens that stays on my body 90 percent of the time.
