What is the sharpest telephoto lens for the Canon EOS R7? I honestly have no idea what I am doing and I just got this camera last week to take pictures of eagles and stuff near my house in Colorado but every photo I take looks kinda soft and not very detailed.

I have a budget of like $1200 maybe a bit more if I wait another month but I dont understand the difference between the RF and EF stuff or why some lenses are so much bigger than others. I just want the clearest most professional looking shots possible without it being too complicated for a beginner like me... any ideas?

Eagles are tricky! You might want to consider these points before spending your whole budget:

  • I would suggest the Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM. Its lightweight and very sharp for the price.
  • Be careful with your shutter speed tho. If it isnt high enough, images look soft regardless of the lens.
  • Make sure to stay with native RF glass to keep things simple and reliable.
