I honestly hate that I spent my entire savings on this R5 body just to realize the lenses cost as much as a used car. Its so frustrating cause I have this amazing camera sitting on my shelf but the RF 24-70 is like two grand and I just cant swing that right now. Im shooting my cousins wedding in Seattle next month and I need something decent that wont break the bank but also doesnt look like total mush.
I have maybe 600 or 700 bucks left in my gear budget if I stretch it. Do I get an adapter for old EF glass or is there actually a budget zoom lens for the R5 that doesnt feel like a cheap piece of plastic?
Ive been very satisfied using the Canon EF-EOS R Mount Adapter with a used Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. You can grab that combo for around $500. The autofocus works well, hitting native speeds easily, and that constant f/4 is huge for a wedding compared to those slower RF kit lenses. No complaints about the sharpness on the high-res sensor either.
