I just finally pulled the trigger on a used X-T5 and I'm honestly so stoked to get out there with it. I've been shooting with a bulky DSLR for years but I'm switching to Fuji for a trip to Tokyo I have coming up in about three weeks so I need to make a decision fast. I've been doing a ton of reading online and everyone seems to be fighting over the 23mm f2 versus the 35mm f2. I saw some people saying the 23mm is the true street focal length because it's like a 35mm equivalent but then other guys on reddit swear the 35mm (50mm equiv) is better for subject separation and not getting right in peoples faces which I'm a bit nervous about doing in a foreign city lol.

My budget is around 700 bucks so I could maybe even swing one of the older f1.4 versions if the autofocus isnt too slow? I'm just worried the 23mm might be too wide and I'll end up with too much clutter in my shots but then if I go 35mm am I gonna miss the scale of the neon signs and buildings? It's making my head spin trying to pick just one lens to bring for the whole trip. Is the 27mm pancake actually a good middle ground or is the aperture too slow for night shots in Shinjuku?

Unfortunately, the 27mm performance isnt as good as expected for night shots.
