What is the absolute best portrait lens for my Canon 90D that wont break the bank but actually looks professional? I have been scouring the web for weeks and I am honestly just more confused than when I started. I keep seeing the EF 50mm f/1.8 recommended everywhere as the must-have lens but then I read that on a crop sensor like mine it behaves more like an 80mm which is worrying because the studio space I am renting here in Chicago is tiny and I dont want to be pinned against the back wall just to get a headshot.
Then I looked at the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 because people say it is better for crop bodies but others claim the distortion makes faces look weird if you get too close. My budget is strictly under $450 because I spent way too much on lighting already and I need to start shooting by the 15th of next month for a client. Its so frustrating because every review contradicts the last one and I just want something sharp with that nice blurry background (bokeh I think?) without having to guess if it will actually fit in my room. Should I just get the 50mm and hope for the best or is there something else I am missing entirely...
> the studio space is tiny I'd be careful with the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM since its tight. Maybe try Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM Art instead, but watch for weird distortion.
