So I've been shooting on my old 80D for years and it's finally starting to give up on me. The shutter feels weird and I have a cousins wedding coming up in late October that I promised to help shoot so I really need to upgrade like yesterday. I've been eyeing the original Canon R6 because the Mark II is just way out of my price range right now. I checked B&H and they have it for a decent price but then I saw a refurbished one on the Canon direct site that is even cheaper. The thing is some people on Reddit say the Canon refurbished stuff is basically brand new but then I saw a couple horror stories about sensor spots on arrival and now I'm second guessing. My budget is pretty firm at $1500 for the body since I still need to grab an adapter for my EF glass. Does anyone know if there are any hidden promo codes or maybe a specific shop that has a better deal than the standard $1600-1700 I keep seeing? Or should I just risk it with the refurb and hope for the best? Just trying to save a few bucks where I can since lenses are so expensive...
Unfortunately, new prices are stuck since the R6 is getting harder to find. I grabbed a refurbished Canon EOS R6 20.1MP Full Frame Body last spring and it was a mess... sensor was filthy right out of the box.
- Canon Refurb: Best price, but QC is super inconsistent lately.
- Used Canon EOS R6 Body Only from MPB: Better inspections than Canon direct. I would skip the direct refurb gamble and just buy used tbh.
