im really sorry if this is a stupid question but i honestly have no clue what im looking at with these canon cameras. i see all these names like the r50 and r10 and i think there was an r6 too? and they all look the same to me but the prices are so different. basically i have about 850 bucks saved up from my summer job and i really want to get a nice mirrorless one before my family goes to florida for the holidays in december but i dont want to get ripped off.

my logic was that black friday would have like huge discounts but i dont even know where to look. is it better to go to best buy or just order from canon directly?? im so nervous that i will spend all my money on a camera that is too hard for me to use or maybe i should just stick to my phone... but i really want those blurry background photos everyone has.

does anyone know if canon usually does good deals for black friday or if the prices stay the same? i keep checking websites and getting more confused because some say body only and i dont even know what that means. do i need to buy a lens too?? i feel like im in over my head honestly and i dont want to miss the window to buy...

hey, dont feel bad about being confused, canon naming makes zero sense even to people who do this for years. for 850 bucks, you can definitely get something way better than your phone. just be super careful about those body only listings cuz you literally wont be able to take a single photo without a lens. since you want those blurry backgrounds, you gotta look for a kit that includes a lens or youll just be staring at a black screen lol. i would suggest checking these out:

  • Canon EOS R50 with RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens Kit - this is basically built for beginners. its tiny, easy to carry for florida, and the auto mode is actually smart.
  • Canon EOS R10 with RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens Kit - might be slightly over your budget unless there is a solid sale, but it has more buttons which is nice if you want to actually learn photography later. honestly, keep an eye on the canon refurbished store. they usually have the best black friday prices and the gear is basically brand new. just make sure it says it comes with a lens or you are gonna be sad on vacation.
