Im losing my mind trying to figure out these camera sales right now. I need to upgrade before a trip to Japan next month and my max budget is around 800 bucks. Ive been staring at B&H and Amazon for three days straight. I saw a refurbished Sony a6100 bundle that looked okay, but then a Reddit thread from two years ago said the kit lens is garbage and now Im second guessing everything. Another blog swore by the Fuji X-T30 II but its completely sold out everywhere I look. Why is this so complicated? Are there actually any decent mirrorless camera deals right now or am I just wasting my time scrolling?
Take a breath! You can totally grab something awesome for under $800 before your Japan trip. Don't let old forum posts scare you away from a decent setup.
- Canon EOS R50 RF-S 18-45mm
- Super compact, amazing autofocus, and under budget new. Perfect for travel snaping.
- Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV
- Tiny body, gorgeous colors straight out of camera, and cheap glass available everywhere. Both are fantastic for street photography and won't kill your shoulders walking around Tokyo all day. You got this!
Like someone mentioned, you can totally crush this budget if you look at micro four thirds or smart bundles. Ngl, sensor size isnt everything when youre traveling light. Check out the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G85 16MP 4K Mirrorless Camera with dual IS. Incredible stabilization for walking around Tokyo streets, and way under your limit.
- Pack extra batteries cause mirrorless eats juice fast.
- Skip heavy glass and grab a fast prime later.
Stop stressing over old reddit threads and grab the Sony Alpha a6400 Mirrorless Camera Body if you can find it near your budget, or stick with that a6100 bundle. Kit lenses get way too much hate online. Theyre totally fine for travel when you just want a lightweight setup for Japan. Pair it with a cheap prime later if you want better low light.
