Im trying to upgrade my ancient DSLR before a trip to Japan in about a month and honestly Im getting super overwhelmed looking at gear. My budget is around 800 bucks max including a kit lens if possible. I looked at the Sony a6100 cause everyone online says its a solid beginner option, but then I read some threads saying its outdated and I should stretch for the a6400 or look at a Fuji instead. But prices are all over the place right now. Are there actually any decent mirrorless deals going on at B&H or Amazon right now or should I just buy something used on Marketplace...

Honestly ditch the fear about the Sony a6100 24.2MP Mirrorless Camera being outdated. Specs nerds online love to freak out over minor things, but that sensor is still an absolute beast for travel. That said, if you can find a deal on the weather-sealed Sony a6400 24.2MP Mirrorless Camera within your budget, totally grab it instead since Tokyo streets can get super dusty or rainy. Another killer option right now is checking out the Fujifilm X-T30 II 26.1MP Mirrorless Camera if you can find a decent used bundle, or even an older Fujifilm X-T20 24.3MP Mirrorless Camera body paired with a cheap prime lens. Fuji color profiles straight out of camera will save you hours of editing pain when you get back home with ten thousand photos. Skip buying brand new retail if your budget is tight. Hit up local camera shops or reliable used sites like MPB or KEH instead of sketchy Facebook Marketplace sellers. Youll stretch that 800 bucks way further and probably land a much better lens package for your trip. Have an amazing time!
