So I was looking at B&H and saw the Sony a6400 on sale for like 750 bucks with the kit lens, but then some reddit thread said I should just get a used Fujifilm instead... Im so lost. Here is what I actually need:
- under $900 total
- mostly for taking photos of my dog and street stuff when walking around Chicago
- needs to be light enough to shove in a small backpack
Should I just grab that Sony deal or keep digging through marketplace for a Fuji? Anyone seen anything better this week?

Honestly grab the Sony a6400 24.2MP Mirrorless Camera deal and dont overthink it. Trying to hunt down a decent used Fuji body plus lenses on marketplace right now is just a headache anyway. That setup hits your budget and fits easily in a small bag for street walks. Plus dog eye autofocus on the sony is super reliable for moving subjects.
- Quick autofocus is a lifesaver for pets
- Compact size fits anywhere
- Brand new with warranty beats risky used gear No complaints with that kit lens to start out with. You can always grab a cheap prime later when you want more background blur.
