Where are you guys finding the best deals on pro DSLRs right now? Im super stoked because I finally saved up about 1200 bucks to upgrade my setup before my trip to Japan in November. Im basically torn between a used Nikon D850 from MPB or just grabbing a new Canon 5D Mark IV if I can find a decent clearance sale somewhere. Should I stick to the refurbished sites or does B&H actually drop prices significantly on older gear? Im kinda impatient and want it in my hands by next week, so I dont really have time to wait for a random eBay auction to end. Is there a better site I should be checking?
Honestly, skip the clearance sales at big retailers, they rarely move the needle on old bodies. In my experience, you are way better off sticking to MPB or KEH for a Nikon D850 45.7MP Full Frame DSLR.
- Check the excellent or like-new condition ratings.
- Grab an extra Lexar Professional 2000x 128GB SDXC UHS-II card. Those sites ship fast and the gear is reliable. Dont waste time on eBay auctions.
@Reply #1 - good point! Honestly, are you planning on shooting mostly stills or video in Japan? I ask because the older Canon bodies have a major crop factor in 4K that might drive you crazy. Have you looked into a used Sony Alpha a7R III 42.4MP Full Frame Mirrorless instead? You can find them right around your budget if you hunt for deals on the major certified used marketplaces.
Honestly, the camera market is just total madness right now. Prices are honestly a scam, and it drives me crazy how much these retailers gouge us for older gear. Good luck!
