im honestly so sick of lugging around this heavy 18-55mm kit lens every time i go out shooting in chicago its killing my neck and honestly half the time im not even getting the sharpness i want. seriously ready to sell it and just get a simple prime. need something lightweight and fast for street photography and maybe some low light stuff downtown.
- under 300 bucks if possible - autofocus is a must cuz manual is too slow for me - needs to be actually sharp wide open so tired of mushy corners. what are you guys using thats actually good without breaking the bank
Drop that kit lens right now! You need the Fujifilm XF 35mm f/2 R WR because it focuses instantly, is weather-sealed for Chicago winters, and stays super sharp wide open. If you want something wider for downtown alleys, grab the TTArtisan 27mm f/2.8 AF since it turns your setup into a true pocket rocket for under two hundred bucks. Both will save your neck immediately.
@Reply #3 - good point! Over the years I've tried many budget options, and the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary is way more reliable imo. Totally worth the extra cash.
Just catching up, but honestly consider the Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 AF. It is super sharp and fits the street vibe perfectly. Really helped me shed weight during city walks.
@Reply #2 - good point! Viltrox is okay, but honestly I had issues with edge softness wide open. Maybe look into Sigma instead if pricing works out.
