Hey everyone — I’m trying to pick a “leave-it-on” everyday prime for my Fujifilm X camera and I’m getting a bit stuck because there are so many good options. I mostly shoot casual stuff: street scenes, travel, coffee shop moments, and quick family photos. I’m currently using the 18–55mm, but I want something smaller and faster for low light and that classic prime look.

I’m torn between the common focal lengths like 23mm vs 35mm (and even the 27mm pancake). I like the idea of a compact setup that doesn’t draw attention, but I also don’t want to regret the field of view being too tight indoors. Autofocus speed matters since I’ll be grabbing quick shots, and I’d prefer something sharp wide open with nice background blur for portraits.

Budget is around $500–$800 (used is fine), and I don’t mind 3rd-party options if they’re reliable. If you had to recommend one prime as the best everyday lens for Fujifilm X, which would you choose and why (23/35/27 or something else)?

To add to the point above: I would suggest being really careful here because I am dealing with this exact same headache and there really is no easy answer. I have been trying to make this choice for months and I still feel totally stuck because I dont want to waste hundreds of dollars on the wrong focal length. It is honestly so frustrating when every option has a trade-off you just cant ignore... I am right there with you and still have no clue what to do.
