I just purchased a Fujifilm X-T5 and I'm excited to dive into portrait photography. I'm looking for recommendations on the best lens for portraits that will give me beautiful bokeh and sharpness.
Building on the earlier suggestion, we've got the premium Fuji 56mm and the budget Sigma covered. Both are solid for bokeh, but they offer a very different look compared to longer glass. I spent a few months shooting with the Fujifilm XF 90mm f/2 R LM WR and the technical performance is very consistent tho. The quad linear motors in the 90mm are objectively faster than the motor in the 56mm f/1.2 R WR. On the X-T5 sensor, that extra bit of precision helps quite a bit. The 137mm equivalent focal length provides significantly more compression, which works well if you have the space to back up. I once tried using it in a tight studio and dont recommend it for small spaces... but outdoors it's gonna eliminate background clutter easily. TL;DR: The Fujifilm XF 90mm f/2 R LM WR provides faster autofocus and more background isolation than the 56mm focal length options mentioned.
- Faster quad-linear AF motors
- Excellent weather resistance
- High resolving power for 40MP sensors

The best portrait lens for the Fujifilm X-T5 is the Fujinon XF 56mm F/1.2 R WR. This lens offers a wide aperture of f/1.2, allowing for beautiful bokeh and excellent low-light performance. Its focal length of 56mm provides a flattering perspective for portraits, making it an ideal choice for capturing stunning images of people. Whether you’re shooting professional portraits or candid moments, the XF 56mm F/1.2 R WR delivers exceptional image quality and a pleasing background blur.
The Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN C lens is a cheaper option.
