So I finally picked up a Fujifilm X-S20 because I wanted something better than my phone for my hiking trips in the Pacific Northwest but man, picking a lens is way harder than I thought. Everything looks like a foreign language to me and I keep seeing all these numbers like 8mm or 16mm and I honestly have no clue what I actually need. I just want to take those wide, sweeping shots of the mountains and forests when I go out on the weekends.
Im kinda lost here, sorry if this is a dumb question but:
- My budget is around 600-800 bucks, maybe a little more if its really worth it but I dont want to go broke.
- It needs to be relatively light because my pack is already heavy enough.
- Ideally something that isnt super complicated to use since I mostly just mess around with the auto settings for now.
Should I look for a prime lens or a zoom one? Does it matter that much if im just starting out? I dont want to buy something and then realize I made a huge mistake a month later... what do you guys think?
> My budget is around 600-800 bucks, maybe a little more if its really worth it Honestly, grab the Fujifilm XF 10-24mm f/4 R OIS WR. It is perfect for landscape, super light, and handles those mountain shots effortlessly.
Honestly, just grab the Fujifilm XF 16mm f/2.8 R WR! Its tiny and super sharp for mountain shots.
- Weather resistant for hikes
- Lightweight prime
- Great value Youll love it!
> I dont want to buy something and then realize I made a huge mistake a month later... I worried about that too, but honestly, zooms gave me way more freedom hiking.
Re: > I dont want to buy something and then realize I made a huge mistake a month later... Ugh, I feel your pain so much! Honestly, the whole lens market is just a total scam lately. The prices are absolutely ridiculous, and half the time you're just paying for a brand name while quality control goes straight downhill. It drives me crazy!
- Do you actually prefer shooting super wide, or do you like a bit of reach? It's such a headache.
