Ugh, Im literally losing my mind here. I tried taking my X-S20 on a hiking trip in Colorado last week to capture some massive landscapes, but my kit lens just isnt cutting it. Everything feels too cramped and I feel like I'm missing half the shot! I want that epic wide look but Im stuck choosing between the Fuji 10-24mm or maybe the Samyang 12mm prime. The zoom is convenient but people say it's soft, and manual focus on the Samyang might actually drive me crazy. Im looking to spend under 800 bucks before my next trip in a month. What are you guys actually using for wide shots that doesnt suck?
Honestly, check out the Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R. It is super reliable and budget friendly. I have been really satisfied with mine on long hikes, never failed me once.
Honestly, check out the Fujifilm XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR. It is sharper and built like a tank. A bit pricey, but worth every penny for serious landscape work.
Honestly, grab the Fujifilm XF 10-24mm F4 R OIS WR. I have used it for years and it is super reliable for hiking. You will be happy with those landscapes.
Yep, this is the way
Man, Colorado landscapes are absolutely insane, I totally get why you want something wider! Stumbled onto this thread and just had to chime in. Are you strictly shooting stills, or are you trying to film some vlogs while hiking too? Also, how much weight are you willing to carry on the trail, since that stuff adds up fast when you are climbing?
