What is the best all-around zoom lens for Fujifilm X-T5?

I finally pulled the trigger on the X-T5 after months of saving up but now Im staring at my bank account and realizing I have no idea which lens to actually get to go with it. Im heading to Japan in about three weeks for a once-in-a-lifetime trip and the pressure to get the right shots is actually keeping me up at night lol. I want just one lens that can stay on the camera the whole time because I hate swapping things out when Im walking around Tokyo or hiking in Kyoto.

I spent hours on YouTube and forums and honestly Im just more confused now. Everyone says the 18-55mm is the kit lens king but then I read that the 40 megapixel sensor on the T5 is too much for it and it wont look sharp? Like what does that even mean in the real world? Then there is the 16-80mm f4 which seems perfect on paper because of the extra reach and the OIS but half the people online say the corners are soft and it has weird focus breathing issues. My budget is tight after buying the body—probably around $700 or $800 max so the 16-55mm f2.8 red badge is basically out of reach unless I find a crazy used deal but even then its so heavy and I dont want a brick around my neck for 12 hours a day.

I also saw the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 which is small and cheap but it doesnt have an aperture ring which is like... half the reason I bought a Fuji in the first place? And it doesnt have stabilization. Im so worried about spending $800 on a lens and then getting home from Japan and seeing all my photos are blurry or just not pro enough for that sensor. Is the 16-80 actually good enough for the 40MP sensor or should I just stick with the old 18-55 and hope for the best? Or am I missing something else entirely that works as a do-it-all travel zoom?

Saw this earlier and honestly, dont let the pixel peepers on the forums get in your head too much. I've been using the X-T5 for a while and I'm super satisfied with how it handles most glass. That 40MP sensor thing is mostly about potential... it doesn't mean your photos will look bad with older lenses, they just might not be clinical when you zoom in 400 percent. If you want a solid, reliable travel setup for Japan without breaking your neck or your bank account, here is my take:The Fujifilm XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR is actually my favorite for trips. People complain about the corners at 16mm, but for real-world travel shots, it looks great and I've had zero complaints with mine. The OIS is basically magic, which is huge when you're walking 20k steps a day and your hands get shaky by sunset.If you want f2.8 but need stabilization, look at the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD for Fujifilm X. It fits your budget, it is sharp enough for the sensor, and the vibration compensation is excellent. No aperture ring tho, which kinda sucks on a Fuji body but the performance is top notch.The Fujifilm XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR is an older workhorse but it is built like a tank and very reliable in bad weather. Honestly, just go with any Fuji branded zoom! I did a massive trek through Tokyo last year with my X-T5 and one of their native zooms was a total lifesaver. The colors were just amazing.Stick with Fujifilm glass, you cant go wrong.Native lenses handle that 40MP sensor like a dream.That aperture ring is everything!
