What is the best all-around zoom lens for the Fujifilm X-T5?

What is the absolute best all-around zoom lens for the Fujifilm X-T5 that actually handles the 40mp sensor? Im honestly getting so frustrated with my old 18-55mm kit lens because every shot looks soft when I zoom in and its just not cutting it anymore. I spent all this money on the T5 body and now my photos look like mush. Im going to the Scottish Highlands in three weeks and really need something sharp that stays on the camera. My budget is around 1000 bucks maybe a bit more. Is the 16-80mm any better or should I just bite the bullet on the 16-55mm f2.8 even though its heavy? Just want something that works...

I tried out the Fujifilm XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR and unfortunately, it was a total letdown for me. The edges were just soft, and no matter how much I stopped down, it never felt like I was getting the resolution I expected. It is a bummer because the range is so good on paper, but it just couldnt resolve the detail for landscape work. Before I can really weigh in tho, what exactly are you planning to shoot while you are hiking through the Highlands? Like, are you more into the wide-sweeping vistas or do you find yourself wanting to zoom in on distant details or wildlife? It makes a huge difference on where the sharpness needs to be... A few things I learned the hard way:high-res sensors show every tiny bit of lens imperfectionsome older glass just physically cannot resolve that many pixelswhat looks sharp on the back of the screen is often mush on a real monitor My current setup eventually solved the problem, but it involved carrying way more weight than I originally planned. I went through the exact same thing when I upgraded my gear! My old kit lens just couldnt keep up with the new sensor and I was ready to quit.
