So I just got my first real camera, a Fujifilm X-T30 II, and I really want to try taking photos of people and cool buildings around Chicago when I visit next month. Right now I only have the kit zoom lens but everyone online says I need a prime lens for street photography. Honestly I have no idea what that even means or why it is better lol.
I am looking at the Fuji lenses and the numbers like 18mm, 27mm, 35mm are just confusing me. I only have about $350 left to spend. Sorry if this is a basic question but which prime lens should I actually buy?

In my experience, you have two great options:
- Fujifilm XC 35mm f/2: Cheap and sharp, but slightly tight.
- Fujifilm XF 27mm f/2.8 R WR: Ultra-compact pancake, great street view, but costs more.
