So I finally bit the bullet and bought a Panasonic S5 II because I want to get serious about street photography. Im super excited but honestly feeling a bit lost now that its actually in my hands. I have the kit lens, but I read everywhere that a prime lens is the way to go for streets because they are smaller and faster?
Im planning a trip to Tokyo in about two months and I really want to be able to capture those candid shots at night without everything turning into a blurry mess. My budget is probably around 500-600 dollars, maybe a little more if its totally worth it. My logic was maybe a 35mm or 50mm, but I dont really know the difference or why I would pick one over the other. I looked at the Lumix 50mm f/1.8 since its cheap, but is that actually good for street stuff? Or should I be looking at something wider? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I dont really understand how focal lengths change the actual picture. Is there something else I should look at? Im just really worried about buying the wrong thing before my trip...
