Im trying to figure out the best all-around zoom lens for my L-mount setup before a trip to Japan next month. Currently torn between the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 II and the Panasonic 24-105mm f4.
My constraints:
- Budget is around $1200 max
- Need it for general street photography and landscape shots
- Want something not too heavy since Im walking all day
Which one would you actually pick for travel?

In my experience shooting travel and street abroad, weight and aperture trade-offs matter way more than specs on paper. Japan involves tons of walking and tight spaces, so every ounce counts. Over the years Ive tried many setups, and honestly, f4 is plenty for daylight landscapes if your body has good IBIS.
- The Panasonic Lumix S 24-105mm f4 MACRO O.I.S. gives you that extra reach which is super handy for details and compression.
- Dual IS with L-mount bodies is magic for night walks.
- Save some cash for food instead. Go with the Panasonic. You wont regret losing the extra stop of light once your shoulders start aching by day three.
